The Challenge

The challenge was to bring multiple heritage venues, visitor services, and cultural experiences into one clear digital platform — while preserving the identity and significance of each historic site.

The experience needed to simplify complex booking decisions across venues, packages, visitor types, and dates, without losing the cultural character of the destination.

Our Approach

I structured the experience around four core visitor needs: Discover, Plan & Book, Experience, and Shop.

Rather than treating each fort or service as an isolated journey, the platform was designed as one connected ecosystem — allowing visitors to move naturally from discovering a destination to planning a visit, attending an event, or exploring related cultural products.

Experience Architecture

The platform brings together four key experience areas:

Discover — Explore historic forts, stories, galleries, and nearby destinations.

Plan & Book — Select venues, ticket packages, visitor types, and preferred dates through a simplified booking journey.

Experience — Discover public cultural events or request tailored private heritage experiences.

Shop — Access cultural products, souvenirs, workshops, and heritage-related content.

Booking Experience

One of the core UX challenges was simplifying a booking process involving multiple variables without overwhelming the visitor.

The experience was structured progressively, helping users move from venue discovery to package selection, visitor details, and scheduling through a clear and predictable journey.

Cultural Discovery

The visual and interaction design balances a contemporary digital experience with the character of Oman’s heritage.

Historic venues remain at the center of the experience, while clear hierarchy, modern layouts, and focused interactions make cultural content easier to explore and understand.

The Outcome

Jibal Al Hajar brings heritage discovery, trip planning, cultural events, ticketing, and commerce into one connected digital ecosystem.

The result is an experience designed to make Oman’s historic venues easier to discover, plan, experience, and access — while maintaining the identity of the heritage itself.
